Floor Wipers

Some nights I’m just not up to going to the gym (this is especially true on Wednesdays for some reason). So tonight, instead of heading down there, I decided to head downstairs to my home gym and do it up in the comfort of my own home. As the workout progressed, I figured I’d do a demonstration of floor wipers.

Floor wipers became all the rage when the movie, 300, came out and popularized the “300 workout“. Floor wipers are a fairly simple exercise, but they really work the upper body. Lie on the floor, under a barbell. Press the barbell and touch your feet to the right side of the bar and then to the left side. That’s a rep. In my version, I perform another press every 5 reps. Here’s the demo. It’s my “Internet video” debut .

  1. Wow, that looks hard. I’m thinking I would get a LOT of strange looks if I attempted that at a gym. I’m scared to even pick up a barbell like that. I imagine it wouldn’t be very safe to do while laying on a bench??

Kristen - maybe not as hard as it looks. It would probably be more difficult on a bench as it would require some serious balance and you wouldn’t want to fall off with a barbell over your head
You’re right - lifting weights from the floor in the gym probably would result in a few strange looks. But everyone would eventually get over it, I’m sure.

yeah it was wierd at first but people started asking what we were doing…bc they were seeing that we were sticking with it after 3-4 weeks and seeing results. it would def not be advised to even attempt it on a bench bc of the balance and danger off falling off with weight on you as jamie said. have fun, but keep it up…it will come

This workout isn’t supposed to be easy. If you’re scared to do it, don’t. You can keep being scared of trying new stuff that might hurt you and remain in mediocre shape forever. However, if you’re really serious about getting into shape, this workout is incredible. I thought I was in pretty freakin good shape until I tried this workout. I thought I was gonna die and threw up twice. I haven’t been this stoked about a new workout plan in years. Absolutely amazing…

People in the gym are way to involved in everyone elses business so just rock the head phones out, get your workout done and go on with you life. Half the people in there dont know what there doing anyways. Im sure you laying on the floor actually getting some where would be better than the same lat pull down you see everyone misunderstanding. Go get’em tiger.
